Light and Shadow

Here are two photos I worked up while taking a break from editing client photos.

war markers...

I know there is potential for an awesome shot in this subject.. don’t know that I have found it just yet.. probably need to have just the right light, at just the right angle for the line potential this subject holds to just sing.. one day.. This place is within walking distance of my house. I have a feeling we shall visit it quite often over the next 20 days.

again in BW

Too much light and shadow going on in this image to not convert to BW.. I like them both but think I prefer the color simply due to the light touch of greens going on at the bottoms of some of the stones.. Which do you prefer?

Do you think it’s weird to take photos of gravestones? I have always enjoyed shooting in graveyards.. call me weird, it’s probably somehow related to the fact that I also like to shoot flowers as they are dying sometimes.. sometimes it is beautiful…

I love these shots. Always loved the seeming perfection of untouched snow and quietude. What works here is how you “picked out” a line of markers, but have the other three or four waiting in the wings in top right corner. Personally, I like the color shot best. There’s just enough color in the bluish snow and the brown-grey markers. Looks more real than in b/w. ~L

thanks liz.. I love untouched snow too, had to keep Luna out of this one.. and I made a point to have those waiting in the wings as you said.. you know me and my lines, throw shadows in there and I’m happy happy. 🙂
