Not a ton going on in the kitchen this week, well I take that back, I did some much needed cleaning..
I did a sink deep clean… and it felt good, and it’s still largely looking this good outside of the pan in it from last night. I also finally got around to cleaning the stove really good too, even the burners. The day I scrub the kitchen floor, I will have to throw a mini party for myself, or treat myself to something, as I know it’s going to be a chore, especially since i will probably do the bathroom floor while I’m at it too (gross). Gotta appreciate the small things, like a clean kitchen (and bathroom) sink.
I didn’t do a huge amount of cooking this week (it was my week to go to the chiropractor twice, so I ran errands at night) but plan to do some this weekend. Dinner went something like this, frozen burritos, hamburger helper, grilled cheese, and biggest accomplishment: Chicken parmesan. But my lil brothers are coming home from school so they will probably (hopefully) want to come out and make some things (and take them back to school with them so I don’t eat them all). I think I will do a soft declare that Fridays are Pizza Day. I made dough last night which is chilling in the fridge, hopefully I’ll have some time to take some decent pics of them tonight. I also need to use up cream cheese so I think some Mini Chocolate Cheesecakes are on the agenda today. Dog treats are running low so I have dried more sweet potatoes for them, and probably will mix up a batch of treats to bake too. Speaking of potatoes…
A sad Hasselback Potato fail…. I hate when things don’t turn out like they are supposed to, especially when it concerns potatoes/fries/starch. These never got soft, not sure what I did long, cooked them way longer than the recipe even called for. Wonder if it was the size of the potato, or the pan it was in. Ideas? Anyone else ever made these? Guess I should stick to Pizza
I really should have taken more time with these photos, even if they were just going to be “record shots” from the superbowl. Better photos tonight maybe, at least until the pizza is cool enough to eat (safely). This is a meat pizza, has salami, pepperoni, prosciutto (wow another insanely spelled word), and some bacon pieces.. I am a white pizza fan personally, but this is one of the few areas I can get slightly creative with the Mister’s food and have him at least taste it.
Almost forgot, I did make something this week…
Popovers! And they went CRAZY this time, got really nice and puffy, not sure why exactly as I didn’t do anything different. But I’m not complaining. And now since these are one of my favorite things to make, the recipe:
I think us girls must have a thing for sinks, especially kitchen sinks. Apart from keeping them sparklingly clean, they make great photo subjects. I’ve certainly taken a few of mine! Yours looks good, quite different from mine but interesting nonetheless.
The food shots aren’t too bad…I think you’re being a bit hard on yourself. The popovers look delicious…were they? :< )
Will you come to my house and clean the mess my husband leaves on the stove top? 😉
The food looks sooo good! I could deal with Friday nights being pizza nights, or anything that I don’t have to cook!
NEVER would have guessed that this is a potato!
The popovers look really easy to make, I might try them some day.
Haha, I’ll pass on the stove top.. least you are just doing the cleaning end, I end up doing both usually. Thanks for the food comments, photos are SO not up to par, but oh well. And this pizza was home made pizza, it’s actually pretty easy. The hardest part is all the toppings we like to put on them. I will have to post the dough recipe… and take pics as I forgot lol.
If you try the popovers let me know what you think. People will often make them to go with stews or something too, it’s sort of just a carry for the main course.. or for slathering a butter mixture on.
Have a great weekend
