52 Weeks of Photos: Week 14; Cherry Blossoms D.C.

As promised a couple cherry blossom photos from this year

I like all of these for various reasons.. it was just a quick grab I hope to work up more.  This was my first year attending the cherry blossoms, I have always wanted to go and my friend loves DC so she set up a photo walk day and I joined her. It was quite an experience. The beauty and magnitude of this event is hard to fully grasp in photos, especially on such a sky blue day and in relation to the crowds it gathers.. the latter of which I am not a huge fan of.  There were moments of frustration as people were in a lot of the lone tree shots I tried to get  And most of the time they were breaking the rules and climbing on the trees which only irritated further. At one point I probably stood there trying to make it obvious that I was waiting to get the shot, for nearly 20 minutes… finally giving up and walking away wishing people followed rules like I usually do. I mean it’s for the sake of the trees after all. Call me a dork but I always feel paranoid on the rare occasion I break the rules (mainly to let Luna run).  Next year is the 100th anniversary, can’t say I will face THOSE crowds unless I can manage to hit there early or late and on a week day.  But I’m glad I finally saw the cherry blossoms, I have lived in VA all my life (till now) and never seen them, or the national zoo which also will hopefully be remedied this year.

Hope you’re all having a great weekend

Oh and I love that these were basically shot as is, very minor adjustments in exposure.

what an extraordinary display! do cherry blossoms smell? i’m just imagining that, with all of those blooms, the air was filled with sweetness.

my favorites are #2 and #3. i like the curvy line of the guardrail.

sorry about the people breaking the rules. i am constantly amazed at how unconscious of others and unthoughtful some people can be. i share your frustration!
