Soooo I’m back.. well my kitchen is back to being a regular mess (though that’s mainly due to me not being able to wash dishes yet).
I had 2 days off this week due to working this weekend and made the most of them for once. Tuesday I managed to make crepes with strawberries.
This is what they usually look like (when I’m trying to make them pretty, I usually eat them too fast to care)
I had a bit of a snafu in this plan however as I could not find my Nutella… which is a rather large problem when that was to be the filling for the crepes. I tried to “whip up” a chocolate sauce instead and while it tasted fine the texture was WAY too thin for my liking/plans. I will have to make sure Nutella is on my list.
Next on my list of things to make were Falafels
This is a picture from last year after my first attempt at them, as well as home made Pita. I did not take any picks this time as I was too concerned about eating them. This time i broke the rules and ground the chickpeas, tahini, lemon etc up more than I had the first time, as well as adding 6 cloves of garlic rather than the 2 called for. I ended up eating 5 which should say a bit. I could have still added more garlic (I love garlic, a lot) and will also continue to play around with spices. I also need to come up with some sort of sauce, problem is I don’t like sour cream or cucumbers. Ideas?
I also made Beef Stroganoff for my honey last night which turned out well. Sorry no pictures of that, I took several as I was making it but no final product picture. I also thought the browning meat shots may not go over so well. And to top off last night’s dinner I made these…
I was trying to find a way to use up the darn chocolate sauce.. but despite my efforts (corn starch, powdered sugar, granulated sugar, butter) I could not get it to thicken up (help!). So I just ended up dipping the tops in, and yet I still have a whole bowl of useless chocolate sauce left.
And that’s my week in food, tonight I just had cereal but some nights it just hits the spot. Now off to rest my feet for a long day of work tomorrow.
Have a great weekend
I love that I can check out your blog for new dog photos, and then be treated to a parade of delectables. It’s making me hungry . . .
i can’t believe you made all of that and didn’t even invite me over for any. don’t you know that falafel is my favorite food EVER??? on sauce: you should try making a blender sauce with cilantro, jalapeno, lime, and a bit of oil. alternately, tahini with a bit of lime and salt is yummy with falafel. would you mind sharing your recipe? i have been wanting to try this, but haven’t dared yet . . .
you are more than welcome to come to our dog ridden rather cluttered humble abode anytime to eat some of this darn food I make and consequently eat too much of… seriously, if you ever come this way let me know. If I could mail it away I would. I shall pass the recipe on, though I did not really follow it much lol. I will try the tahini sauce idea I think, maybe add some kick to it somehow
Luna is gorgeous & oh-so-sweet…
but the food. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The crepes…and the dark chocolate cup cakes dripping with ohhhhhhhhhhhh….
thank you 🙂 best not look too far into my archives, there are much better food photos back there. Thanks for stopping by
Anna
Out of Nutella? The horror! I enjoyed a nice slathering on top of my toast this morning. 😉
Those crepes look scrumptious. I’ve never attempted making crepes…but love eating them!
Rub it in ;-P I am not a master of crepes AT ALL… but they turn out well enough for me to enjoy them. The recipe I found and used the past 2 times has helped make them even better. Hardest thing, as is the case with most breakfast foods, is getting the pan/heat right.
You made crepes and didn’t invite ME over???
Those cupcakes look pretty good, too, with that dripping chocolate sauce.
No clue how you could thicken the chocolate sauce… how about drizzling it over ice-cream?
These give a whole new emphasis to the term “single handed”… I’m amazed you manage to concoct such things in your current condition… They look delicious.. I hope you’re mending well.. 🙂
That all looks so good, even though I ate not long ago!
The falafel’s a great idea. I’m planning to make crêpes this weekend, so you’re photo provides some great motivation – yum!
Homemade pita–impressive! There are a couple middle eastern restaurants here that make fresh pita and it is sooo much better than store bought!
All of the food you made sounds yummy. Perhaps chocolate sauce over frozen yogurt or strawberries? Or maybe just eat it with a spoon? Seems a shame to waste a perfectly good chocolate sauce! 🙂
