I think we have reached a new low… you will understand more after the photos for this week
Popovers made an appearance as a late breakfast on my day off. And they were awesome, not overly cooked. Nice and soft and flavorful for once too. One of my favorite things to make with eggs
Tacos were on the menu this week too, so I snapped this photo with my phone (seems I’m doing that more often these days). I think the Mr. did a nice job of plating them unconsciously.
Luna was in a very chipper mood that night (nice way of saying she was kinda wound up) and decided to come into the kitchen and share her happiness while she waited for her dinner to hit the floor…
And wyatt being easier to wear out than my Vizsla, decided to just lay down and wait. I must admit when it comes to dinner time, our dogs are very good. Probably because we don’t have a set feeding time. It just comes down to whenever we get to it.
Now on to the turtles… we spotted this guy when we were replanting the bird field. He almost became dinner, but was saved by the Mr. having just woken up and not in the mood for turtle. Some probably will be shocked I even posted that, but there is a plethora of them around here, and yes at times we are a bit country… I’m not afraid to admit that 😉 Mind you I also would not be eating it, but I’m not opposed to cooking it.
I also defrosted chukar meat, which due to work did not end up being made for the Mr. so I dried it for the dogs (that’s becoming an easy way to not let meat go to waste). And tonight I made a pork tenderloin in the slow cooker. The Mr. thought it was very good, sadly I didn’t make anything to go with it. but at least I found a good recipe for it. I want to make more things in the slow cooker this summer as it keeps my kitchen cooler. But I have a feeling we may be getting an ice cream maker soon to help with that problem 😉
Hope everyone has a great weekend, sorry for the rather mundane week in the kitchen.
i absolutely adore that first photo, the one with the brick/yellow, and the one of the wheat field. you have a great eye for non-animal composition!!
Havi doesnt know when dinner is coming to her either. Your food looks yummy!

it works out well, but it also must just be outside their nature too. Thanks for stopping by
The food pictures look so inviting (except the turtle!). Grace starts to get antsy for her food and is not shy about letting us know it’s time to eat. It’s especially adorable if we’re outside sitting in the lawn and she’ll sit where we can see her, facing the house, as if to say: “Hey, time to go in now.” If that doesn’t work, the tactics escalate to whining and pawing us. We eventually give in, even if we go back outside.
Look back a bit I have much better food photos. I have cooked up many meats but not turtle as of yet, and I have a feeling it wouldn’t be very pretty, he was a cool discovery despite our decision. Luna will do the door/kitchen sitting thing too. Or she will just lay by the bag or in the kitchen until someone notices. It’s actually pretty odd how quiet she is about letting us know considering how vocal of a dog she is overall. Grace sounds like a fun dog.
Popovers sound yummy. I have always wanted to try to make them, but they are intimidating to me. Yours look lovely. Kudos to you! I am always willing to try new things, but I don’t think turtle would be one of them. 🙂
Thunder is super excited to see his food bowl or hear the food bag crinkle. In his case, that is a good thing! The worse offender when it comes to demanding food in our house is that cat. She may be tiny, but she demands her food on a timely basis and takes it personally if it is a minute late…lol.
Popovers are VERY easy. I will try and dig up the recipe. And as you can see I just use my muffin tins and they turn out just fine.
I think the fact that we don’t have a set feeding time, mostly due to work etc. Our guys have let go of any demands they have about it. Cats are the worst, I know my parents have to give in to my brother’s cat’s demands of canned food, or suffer the consequences of cries. We probably never will own a cat. Due to the Mr.’s allergies and my dog being way too cat tracking obsessed. We would need a beast cat like my old one if we were to have one.
