Well it will be a pretty sparse foodie post today (not like it matters since it’s nearly midnight). I have been spending time in the kennel getting it ready for the onslaught this weekend. So since suspense won’t really help anything here we go.
Pizza friday has returned! The Mr. has been kinda off of pizza (yeah I never knew thought it would happen either) but he said he would be up for it again today. So I whipped up a batch of pizza dough and threw a couple together for dinner. Nothing fancy, I still really want to figure out how to do a crust that is chewy, kinda dry, but then soft inside yet. Is it possible without a brick oven? Using my pizza stone might have helped some, I will have to remember that next time. It’s nice to have pizza back.
We weren’t the only ones enjoying some yummy food this week. I am trying to make a point to stuff more kongs for Luna & Wyatt. It helps with the heat as well as gives them something to do. I timed how long it took them to clean out a frozen one, surprisingly it took about an hour. They’re both pretty clean/dainty about the whole process and seem to thoroughly enjoy it.
Wyatt made another trip out with me to pick more wineberries. I hope to go out one last time this weekend if I can stand the heat. The second time out I gathered another carton and half worth. Not bad for 40 minutes of picking before dark. I hope to use some for scones this weekend, along with some blueberry ones… you know to go along with a red white and blue theme.
What are your weekend plans? Cooking anything tasty?
Happy 4th to all those that celebrate.
ho. ly. cow. those berries look so amazing, i want to take a bath in them. are wineberries the same as wild raspberries, or different? how big are they? hard to tell from the photos.
hope you and yours had a nice 4th!
The berries look amazing! Happy 4th to you!!
Those wineberries look amazing! Yum. I’ve never even heard of them before but I think I could eat a basket or three. 🙂
I hope you have a wonderful holiday! Thanks for the great food shots. I am so glad it is almost time for lunch.
Great pictures! Those berries look yummy. What do you stuff the kong toy with? We are dog-sitting for a friend and we’re finding out that a 8-month lab has more energy than Grace does. She woke up at 5:15 this morning wanting to play and hasn’t stopped yet! 🙂
Love the berry shot! Is it just a cloth they’re on? And did the double-berry picture turn out okay? Of course, as soon as I got home and started debugging them, the conjoined twins disappeared, and once Eric and Ava got ahold of them, it was too late. =/
Pizza. Yum! I was thinking that you might need a brick oven to make the kind of crust you want. Let me know if you figure out a way to do it with just the stone. Summer time I don’t tend to use my oven as much so I think we will be barbecuing this weekend. I have some halibut in the freezer. It isn’t as nice as fresh, but I think it will be good on the grill.
Love the picture of Luna with her kong. Have a nice 4th!
