It has been far too long since I shared a training dog with you, and to be honest they are the reason for it. I have had a wave of about 9 dogs come through the month long program lately on top of having a pretty much full kennel. Things have slowed WAY down now, so maybe I can catch you all up on a few.
First up, Jax.
We are not sure what his mix is, but I do see Boxer and Mastiff. He has the build of both and the temp too. I for some strange too a big liking too him. Maybe it’s because I considered both these breeds for my own dog, but decided against it. He has a lot of what I like in these breeds though, is not too large and doesn’t even drool a whole lot.
As you can see he is playful…
Very playful…
And goooooofy…
And relatively easy to train. He was not overly hyper, he was pretty laid back (read lazy) and he had a darn strong desire to please. He did attempt to get away with murder (not literally people) due to him being soooo stinkin’ cute/goofy but I was on to his tricks. And I told his parents to raise the bar high for him and go for his Canine Good Citizen because he could totally do it. But it will take time.
He still needs to mature up. I introduced him to the Mr. and even he noticed that his attention span is that of most boys… about 3 seconds, 5 seconds max. BUT it has gotten a lot better than what it was when he first came in. But there comes a point where he is just done, and you may as well stop training and give in to his cuteness because he just can’t help it. (note the tongue sticking out in the above pic)
Who could resist that? Stay strong mom and dad, he will be an awesome dog you just gotta not let him manipulate with his goofiness. I commend his parents for bringing him in for training so soon, they had only had him for a week or two. What a great way to start off on the right foot with him. I hope we see him back for boarding in the future as he is a wonderful dog.
See ya later Jax!
These are great pictures that show off his personality! The training he received has really helped. Imagine the 75 lb puppy running at you with full force, that decides to ignore any command! Not so much anymore! Jax’s attention span is still a work in progress but we love him all the same. He got to meet our parents over the labor day weekend, along with his “cousin” Carrie, a 11 year old retriever. They had the run of the yard for hours, off leash! The remainder of the evening we saw only Jax’s masfiff side, he flopped on his bed and did not move for hours.
Keep up the wonderful work you do 🙂
Those pictures are adorable, thank you for sharing them with us! They absolutely show his spirit (goofiness). The training he received has really helped, we’ve had a great time since getting him home.
this will come as no shock to you, but Jax is my kind of dog! i love that bully-ish mixed mutt look. and those ears. how precious. lovely photos, also!
Yeah i knew you would like him, he was a sweet boy and will do very well I think. Glad you enjoyed the photos.
