So I mentioned in my last post that I was going on a kayak trip for the first time… and hoped it went well and was easy easy as I thought it would be.
Well it did and was and shall not be the last. Actually I am headed for a little paddle with the dogs shortly, I thought I would share these photos from my first trip first. Sit back and relax… there are quite a few to share
I was to ride in the orange hot rod on the right there.
I thought it was a good idea to get a shot of me before we actually got in the water, incase I ended up looking like a drowned rat by the end of everything.
Off we go, our guide on the right, and my friend who orchestrated it all on the left… and my helmet photo bombing on the bottom left…
As I got more comfortable in the kayak I figured I would try a self portrait and I think it turned out pretty well
And I love this one of my friend
Pardon the oober crappy photo (focus while in a kayak is not so easy) I spotted these birds on our trip and had to get a photo so I could identify them when I got home. Turns out they are Common Mergansers, thanks to my friend Paul who helped me figure this out.
Had to record this one, as my friend thought that she was going to be taken out by that rock seen upstream from her.
The end in sight
Fastest 3 hours ever… sad it was over
I love my river, it was a great way to spend a saturday. And my new waterproof camera didn’t do a half bad job helping me record my first outing.
So off I go to take the pups down to a different river and see what a sit-on-top kayak is like. I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

Beautiful pictures. You new camera takes great pictures and your self portrait turned out very nice.
Great pictures, Anna! I love paddling in Kayaks and I think you will enjoy the sit-on-tops. The ones I have used are very stable. If you decide to purchase one, I’d recommend getting a very comfortable seat. I like the Manta Ray 12 made by Native Watercrafts. And the Wilderness Systems brand is very good. Good luck, and have fun!
